New Ferrari F430 GTC Completes First Test Yesterday at Sebring

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 17, 2009) – Extreme Speed Motorsports, the new race team created and owned by veteran race car driver Scott Sharp, has revealed the driver lineup to compete for the team in the American Le Mans Series’ GT2 class in 2010. The announcement follows a successful day of testing the team’s first new Ferrari F430 GTC at Sebring International Raceway – the car’s first run on American soil after arriving from the factory in Italy.

“The Ferrari F430 is beautiful, and definitely one of the best handling cars I have ever driven,” Sharp said today. “The team is incredibly enthusiastic about our relationship with Ferrari, and I’m very excited that we are already hitting the track, testing.”

The team will compete with two cars, one piloted by Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek, and the other with Ed Brown and Guy Cosmo behind the wheel. Tequila Patrón, a longtime supporter of motorsports racing, has signed on as a sponsor, along with Ferrari Corse Clienti and the team’s official tire sponsor Michelin.

Driver Challenge Winner to Test Daytona Prototype

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Fresh from winning the inaugural 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco, British champion Derek Johnston will test a Daytona Prototype on Nov. 3-4 at Virginia International Raceway to begin his preparation to drive in the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Johnston won a coveted driver's seat in America's premier sports car race by scoring the highest average point total among registered drivers competing in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, the Radical UK Cup and the SPEED sports prototype series in 2009. Johnston, a 47-year-old resident of Nottingham, has won the Radical UK Cup the past two years, in addition to winning Radical's European Masters championship.

Radical SR8 driver Derek Johnston rounded off his motorsport season in style, scooping a ‘hat-trick’ of prizes at this weekend’s Radical European Masters round in Dijon, France. Derek is the inaugural winner of the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco, after two calculated drives in challenging conditions.

Johnston won both the 2009 Radical European Masters Driver’s title and class title on Sunday, but had done all he could in pursuit of the Sunoco drive at the final round of the Radical UK Cup at Snetterton two weeks ago.

Radical Smash Nordschleife Lap Record!

Peterborough sportscar manufacturer Radical Sportscars has smashed the Nürburgring production car lap record, with driver Michael Vergers posting a committed 6m48s lap time. The road-legal SR8LM smashed the previous record, also held by Radical since 2005, by an incredible eight seconds. All this, less than 24 hours after the car was driven from England to Germany for the record.

German motoring magazine Sport Auto oversaw the attempt, with the UK’s evo magazine confirming the time, which will be officially finalised tomorrow (Thursday). Conditions for the record were perfect, with clear skies and temperatures in the high 20s. Vergers initially battled with the Nordschleife’s fearsome kerbs, jumps and bumps, but soon found the ideal setup, inspiring confidence to push harder.

“The car was great, I could push really hard and it felt clearly faster than the previous SR8 in 2005,” said Vergers. “It’s fantastic that we’ve beaten the record; hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to return with Radical in the future.”

Radical co-founder Mick Hyde said: “I’m obviously delighted, the record has been a real team effort headed up by Phil Abbott and Rob Wheldon. Dunlop have supplied us with brilliant, hard-wearing trackday tyres, indeed we’ve only used one set to both drive to the ‘Ring, and set the record. “We’ve proved that the SR8LM is not only the world’s best trackday car, but it’s also practical enough to drive to and from the circuit. It is a genuine production sportscar, with genuine performance credentials, as we’ve shown today.”

David Donohue Tests Radical East's Newest SR3 RS

New Jersey Motorsports Park driving club members were treated to a streaking crimson sports racer at Thunderbolt raceway on july 7th, Rolex 24 at Daytona champ David Donohue was giving the latest 2009 hardware from Radical, the NEW SR3 RS, fresh off its transatlantic crossing, a special shakedown for East coast distributors Radical East USA. The paddle shift equipped 1500cc Rad performed flawlessly as Donohue layed down some impressive laps. After the test David commented on what a great track car the Radical is and how
"it feels so light & tossable" compared to his DP car.

SR3 "RS" Breaks Cover at Palm Beach Raceway

April 15 2009, saw Palm Beach Driving Club member Graham Sharp take delivery of Radicals newest 2009 SR3 "RS". the car looked incredible in it's unique Racing Sport Foundation livery. Graham and his son were all smiles while shaking it down under the lights at PBIR. The new "RS" model boasts FIA/MSA certified chassis, 10bhp more power from the K8 family of engines and 30% stiffer chassis further improving the SR3's impressive handling characteristics.

'09 SR5 Tests at Homestead-Miami Speedway

March 7-8th 2009: Radical's NEW 2009 SR5 Endurosport was spotted recently testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The car's new owner is ecstatic!! He said the car is "beyond what he imagined it would be". The SR5 features the 2.0L Honda power plant with the uprated throttle bodies induction (265bhp) mated to the stout Hewland 6 speed sequential gearbox. Pro Pete Argetsnger proclaimed the SR5 as an awesome package of performance & reliability. The car feels like a tuned AMG version of a Radical.
