HSR Radical Challenge Cup Series Prize Announced ~ 'Arrive And Drive' 2012 Radical European Masters Series Entry For Inaugural Season Champion
Friday, December 31, 2010 at 1:51PM 2011 Challenge Cup Winner to choose from Brands Hatch or Silverstone Venue
With the momentum building toward the exciting new HSR Radical Challenge Cup Series, Radical announced today the winner of five-race Series 2011 Championship will receive a full factory sponsored entry in one of two rounds in the 2012 Radical European Master Series.
While the winner is responsible for travel and lodging, upon arrival at the track he or she will be provided with a race-ready factory prepared Radical 'Werks' SR3 Supersport complete with full track support from the factory Werks team. The driver will choose between 2012 Radical European Masters rounds at Brands Hatch or Silverstone.
"This is an amazing opportunity and a terrific prize," said Barry Smith, director of Radical East USA and founder of the HSR Radical Cup Series. "All the driver needs is to show up with a helmet, drivers suit and the desire to win. The fully prepped car, entry fees, tires, race fuel will all be provided by the Radical factory Werks team. With starting grids of 40-50 cars, Brands Hatch and Silverstone are considered two of the premier events in the European Masters Series."
The HSR Radical Challenge Cup is a new racing Series aimed toward creating competitive cost-effective open cockpit prototype racing for the gentleman driver. Featuring the highly successful open cockpit Radical SR3 RS Le Mans-style prototype racer, the series is slated to appear at HSR events throughout North America. The tentative 5 race schedule will feature such historic venues as Sebring International Raceway, the road course at Daytona Speedway and the scenic natural terrain circuit of Road Atlanta, home to such legendary events as the 10 hour Petit Le Mans and 'The Mitty.'
With the car and the venues intact, the focus of the Series is to insure a level playing field and manage costs.
"When we talk to drivers throughout the country the number one concern they have is cost containment," notes Smith. "Sure they want to have fun. But they also want assurance that they can show up and be competitive without having to invest in upgrades every time they race. We've developed a rules package that directly avoids runaway costs. Drivers will not be allowed to make any performance enhancements or modifications to the car. Beyond safety upgrades, all cars must be presented to the HSR tech officials in their original factory configuration. This will insure a level playing field and will eliminate owners have to make expensive modifications and performance upgrades. It's extremely important costs stay in line and rules remain easy to manage."
"And the Radical SR3 RS is the perfect car to insure safe, close competition and a whole lot of fun," Smith insists. "At 0-60 mph in around 3 1/3 seconds, it's wicked quick. It develops incredible down force sticking like glue through the corners. It requires very little maintenance and it's extremely reliable. And most important, it's safe!"
To kick start participation in the Series, Radical is offering a $12,000 factory rebate to the first 12 buyers joining the HSR Radical Challenge Cup Series. This will directly reduce the cost of the Radical SR3 RS to $93,796.00 compared to the regular price of $105,796.00 - which includes air freight and import duty.
The first race of the HSR Radical Challenge Cup Series is tentatively scheduled for Feb 10-13 at Palm Beach International Raceway.
